Racing for Joints

...As in the parts of your body which allow movement. I did notice the team with the "Jogging for Joints" t-shirts were coughing and wheezing quite a bit though.

So yesterday our family took part in the annual arthritis run. This morning I'm wondering if the goal is to raise money for arthritis research or make you feel like you have arthritis the next day. Here is a picture of our clan preparing for the race: Karen, Elena, Emmie (Bev's sister), Zarek, Justin, and Cider. It was a chilly morning, so we wrapped Sprout up in a ball-o-fleece.The girls all ran together while Justin and I took the kids in our jogging strollers. We did pretty well once we passed the walkers who insisted on walking 10 abreast. It was a little like baby stroller Nascar at the beginning. Justin avenged last year's 10k defeat by finishing about a minute ahead of me.

  1. We didn't get time chips, so I'm not sure. The race clock was just over 27 when I finished, but we started at the back of the pack - so probably around 26 minutes. Yes, that means you beat me!

  2. That's exactly what I wanted to know. You must know what a horribly competitive person I am.

That's a pretty good time though, you should be happy.

  3. That's it Jacci, I'm coming to Delta just so we can race. I will destroy you!

  4. When I beat you you'll just have some lame excuse like the 2000 extra feet in elevation.

  5. You have foiled my plan! Now I will have to resort to excuses related to my advanced age, fake a knee injury, or trip on my shoelaces.
