No Rubber Ducky Needed

Here's a little window into Sprout's favorite time of day: bath time.

Seven Months

Sprout has passed the seven month mark. Below is our standard picture of her with Puppy.I was watching her one day while Karen was out, and while I was in the other room I heard her start giggling hysterically. When I walked into this living room, this is what I found. So much for toys that are barely in reach! This picture makes me think that Sprout may be considering a career in politics...

Time for a new kitchen stove

I have been neglecting my blogging duties, so I am posting canning pictures from last weekend. Mary (Karen's mom), Karen, Sprout and I spent most of the day canning. We had three burners running on the kitchen stove and two on the camp stove outside most of the day. Here, Sprout and I are blanching peaches. I discovered that the backpack was THE way to go for canning, as the Baby Bjorn put her mischievous hands way too close to burning hot canning stuff. We canned 80 quarts of pears and peaches, plus over fifty pints of plum and nectarine jam. Below is a picture of the bounty, and you will notice that we still have more fruit left to preserve in the lower left-hand corner. After our massive production effort, I decided that it would be easier to buy a new stove as this one is never going to be quite the same.

Yuck!

I think we have the makings for a new Mastercard commercial. I'm still working out the details.

Happy child eating homemade pear and plum baby food, with fruit given to us by our neighbor- zero $

Paper towels to clean up same happy child eating piece of plum that was a little tart, immediately spitting out with an accompanied "uck" and a facial expression to match- $.02

My dad was laughing so hard I thought I'd have to pick him up off the floor- priceless.

the joy of eating

Elena is really getting into the eating thing. Here is a picture of her with her sippie cup. She's still trying to figure it out.
Most recently, she's been eating cantaloupe grown by her great-grandpa in his amazing garden. She hasn't quite grasped the concept of picking up food and putting it into her mouth, so we still help her a bit with this.

Action

Here is a short video of Elena rolling. It was much better with the running commentary that accompanied it, but turns out that the camera doesn't have audio capabilities. So just pretend you hear us talking and cooing. I love her smile at the end.

New baby pics

I took these pictures of Elena last week. The weather wasn't very pleasant, so we spent some time playing on the floor. She went in for her 6 month shots a few days ago and she's weighing in at 16 pounds.
