CenturyLink Can Suck It

The monthly bill for our land line is $46.06 through CenturyLink, not including long distance. Goodbye, CenturyLink.

I have installed an internet service from Ooma. Price: $3.76, which covers local taxes like 911 services. For an additional $10/month, we can get some pretty cool features. One feature sends all calls directly to voice mail by pressing a button (nap time anyone?) and blacklisting numbers. Since Karen and I have a combined 4 alma maters, the latter will pay dividends. Another cool feature will automatically notify any cell phone numbers or emails you select if someone calls 911 from your home. I know some folks who could benefit from that feature.

I wouldn't say that I hate CenturyLink, but their customer service and equipment maintenance suck in comparison to some of the other fine utility companies in our area. Okay, maybe I am a little upset that they don't offer high speed internet or cable TV in our area, but there are two phone boxes on our street which have been wrapped in plastic for years because they refuse to repair them. As a company, they need to get with the program before they go the way of the steam engine.
