The Sleigh Ride

This weekend at the cabin, Post 1. We met up with Luis, Lisa, Alex and Katie for a sleigh ride to see some wintering elk. We forgot our good camera this weekend, so you get phone pics.

If you ever do the elk viewing/sleigh ride activity in Donnelly, leave your binoculars at home.

Here is a picture of Elena yelling at a cow who is destroying her seat. She was pretty upset that the elk kept eating our seats. Elk aren't very nice according to her.
Here are some so-so pictures of the Sanchez family enjoying the experience.

Marcus enjoyed the sleigh ride as well. Marcus hates mittens. Have any of you ever seen a dog walk around after you put booties on their feet? That's kind of how Marcus is with mittens. The must be held at least three inches from the torso at all times, and they render your hands completely useless. Then again, at least he kept his mittens on.
So close, yet so far away....
One of Elena's mittens came off and fell onto the ground. You can't just get out of the sleigh and fetch anything because the elk disappear when they see people on foot. I tried to get the attention of our guide, but he was in the middle of a long story with some folks from Wisconsin. She was quietly having a meltdown while we waited for chance to get his attention.. and waited....and waited. I finally spoke with the guide's son and we circled the wagon (sleigh) in order to pick up the mitten. Crisis avoided.

One other funny note: Marcus, our quiet child, yelled HEE-YA from the time the horses left the feeding area until we got back to the parking lot. THE WHOLE WAY! Our guide's command to go was "Stand Up," so he came up with that on his own.

I also had to share this picture of Marcus playing with play-dough. Karen said he played with it for over an hour while I was gone ice fishing. I did manage to bring home enough perch for dinner.
